Ella Flaye
Director of People
Ella is an adventurer at heart with a passion for people and creative problem solving. A former foreign news journalist turned consultant, Ella brings her passion for understanding and unravelling deep complex issues to finding innovative solutions to Delterra. A people person at heart, her passion for sustainability stems from a drive to deliver meaningful impact to both people and planet through a human lens.
As part of Delterra’s global leadership team, Ella oversees our People & Human Resources. She is currently based in Portugal. Her previous work in Indonesia focused on building partnerships and collaborations with top players across government, businesses and NGOs to drive greater and more sustainable impact across the country.
Before joining Delterra, Ella was Regional Director, Asia at McKinsey.org and led the incubation and scaling of Rethinking Recycling in Indonesia. Prior to that Ella was a manager in McKinsey & Company’s London office, where she focused on public and social sector, and consumer work, with a specialization in strategy, transformations and organizational topics. Her work at McKinsey & Company took her across Europe, Middle East and East Africa working with charities and governments alike. Prior to McKinsey & Company, Ella was an investigative journalist on the CBS News Foreign Desk, through the tumultuous years of the Arab Spring and the European Economic Crises.
British by birth, though international in upbringing, Ella is happy to hop across geographies looking for adventures. She holds an MBA from INSEAD and an MA in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford University. Ella is never happier than when she’s traversing mountains, sailing the high seas or diving deep in the oceans in some far flung spot across the globe!
