Rethinking Recycling is now the flagship initiative of a new, independent nonprofit Delterra!
October 04, 2021

Rethinking Recycling now has a new home – Delterra.

Delterra is an independent environmental non-profit, whose vision is a world where human activities protect and restore a healthy planet. Delterra semantically means ‘change for the planet’, and Delterra’s tagline, ‘Real Change, At Scale’, signifies the organization’s intent to solve the world’s most complex systemic environmental challenges—on the ground, at scale, and with urgency.

Over the past three years, Rethinking Recycling has improved the livelihoods of more than 450 waste workers, many of them women, and its programs have achieved higher recycling rates than those of most US cities. Today, Rethinking Recycling is on track to provide waste management and recycling services to over a quarter of a million people in Indonesia and Argentina by 2022. Now with Delterra as its home, Rethinking Recycling’s goal is to scale green, inclusive, and economic recycling to countries across Asia, Latin America and Africa.

In the coming years, Delterra will add other initiatives to its portfolio, with the mission of developing innovative scalable solutions that redesign human systems for the good of people and the planet.
