Dear Friends,
As we close out the second quarter of 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made together in advancing Delterra’s mission to redesign waste systems and accelerate the transition to a just, inclusive circular economy. Over the past few months, we’ve advanced several initiatives that are helping us better understand what it takes to create lasting, scalable change—some of which you’ll read about in this newsletter.
As we enter the second half of the year, we remain firmly committed to working hand-in-hand with communities, governments, and the private sector to scale sustainable solutions and drive systemic change across Indonesia and Latin America.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’re helping shift the way the world manages waste—toward systems that are cleaner, more equitable, and built to last.
With gratitude,
Shannon Bouton
President & CEO, Delterra
Experiencing the Power of Collective Action
With the support of Beiersdorf, in collaboration with Cooperativa Baires and the Buenos Aires City Government, we launched the country’s first low-value plastic washing plant mostly operated by women. Officially inaugurated this May, the project is part of Beiersdorf’s Women in Circularity initiative. And it’s more than just recycling — it’s a powerful example of how circular economy solutions can empower communities and drive lasting change.
Twelve incredible women now lead the plant’s daily operations. They are transforming plastic waste into opportunity and building brighter futures for their communities.
We’re deeply grateful to Beiersdorf for helping turn this vision into reality. Watch the video to see these inspiring women in action.
Field visit in Argentina
This quarter, we had an inspiring and fast-paced week in Buenos Aires with Amcor, Beiersdorf, Coca-Cola, Eunomia, Grupo Arcor, SC Johnson, SIG Brazil, and UnidadCom. Together, we explored Delterra’s waste management programs across Argentina.
Over the past six years, Delterra has been transforming linear waste systems by working across the entire value chain—from collection and sorting to offtake and reintegration into new products. It was powerful to share the real impact Delterra is having on recycling and the close collaboration with local governments, cooperatives and citizens.
Looking forward, we’re excited to continue scaling these efforts in Argentina and to Brazil and beyond, continuing our mission to unlock the value of waste and advance the circular economy.
You can see the photos of the visit to Argentina here.
Advancing multi-stakeholder collaboration in Indonesia
Over the past few months, Delterra has been actively supporting waste management and sustainability efforts across Indonesia. We officially became an associate member of GRASP2030, a national platform led by the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD)—a CEO-led association of companies operating in Indonesia committed to promoting sustainable development through sustainable economic growth, ecological balance, and social progress—and powered by WRAP. We’re proud to continue building momentum toward a more circular and sustainable future in Indonesia through this partnership.
We also partnered with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to co-host an Informal Policy Roundtable on packaging in Jakarta, bringing together 16 key stakeholders to explore the challenges and opportunities of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). In addition, we participated in WWF Indonesia’s Focus Group Discussion on Food Loss and Waste, where we shared our behavior change framework and insights from Bali’s waste management initiatives. We look forward to continuing to build these partnerships.

Reducing methane emissions through organic waste management in Latin America
Delterra, with the Climate & Clean Air Coalition and the Global Methane Hub, released five webinars on reducing methane emissions in Latin America, available on our YouTube channel. We thank the Argentine Composting Association for their participation.
Methane as a greenhouse gas is over 80 times more potent than CO2 and one of the leading causes of climate change. Waste is the third highest source of human-caused methane emissions.
Reducing methane, especially by diverting organic waste from landfills, is essential to addressing climate change.
Delterra is working in collaboration with these and other partners on organic waste projects in the Global South leveraging Delterra’s local connections to support cities in these efforts.
Coming up
In May, Delterra’s CEO, Shannon Bouton, joined the team in Brazil to meet with key stakeholders in the waste management sector.
They visited cooperatives and recyclers in the city of São Paulo to experience the work firsthand and explore opportunities for collaboration. From supporting waste pickers to improving recycling infrastructure, our work in Brazil is growing in new and exciting ways. We look forward to sharing more updates later this year.
Our next phase of work in Brazil will build on the meaningful progress we’ve made in partnership with Recicleiros in the city of Guaxupé, with the support of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste.
