Bogor, Depok and Denpasar – Creating a circular city self-assessment tool for cities in the Global South (WWF Plastic Smart Cities)
June 11, 2026

Location: Indonesia

YEAR: 2024

Funder(s): WWF Indonesia

Budget: $60k USD

Delterra partnered with WWF Plastic Smart Cities to develop a Circular Cities Self-Assessment Tool that helps municipalities across the Global South assess waste management maturity and identify actionable pathways toward circularity. Built on Delterra’s six-dimension framework, the tool evaluates 80+ indicators across operations, governance, financing, policy, and market systems, generating automated recommendations and benchmarking cities against circular economy standards.

Piloted in Denpasar, Bogor, and Depok, the minimum viable product (MVP) platform enabled city governments to complete streamlined digital assessments with automated reports generated within minutes instead of weeks. The initiative provided key insights for scaling data-driven circular waste governance and is now informing potential integration with national and global waste management frameworks.
