Mike Stockman has over 15 years of experience designing, implementing and management recycling, public health, and WASH initiatives. Mike spent three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, West Africa working with local communities to improve their health, with a focus on prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS. After completing studies in the US, Mike moved to Tanzania where he spend three years working for the University of Washington’s International Training and Education Center for Health, before working as a consultant with several early-stage startups, a disability hospital, and a social impact fund. Mike helped start and run a plastics recycling company in Tanzania.

After leaving Tanzania in 2017, Mike joined Results for Development Institute as a Senior Program Officer. In his role as Deputy Director of ACS, he oversaw operational set-up and strategic management in five sub-Saharan African countries working on a 20-million-dollar US Government health financing project. Mike has also worked as a plastics recycling and circular economy consultant for UNICEF's Office of Innovation, and for Advance Insight.

Mike has a Master's in Public Health degree, with a concentration in global health, from New York University, and a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University. Mike is a native English speaker, and proficient in Swahili and French.

Mike, his wife Melissa, and two children, Amani aged 5 and Teo age 3, live in Portugal. In his spare time, Mike enjoys trail running, rock climbing, playing football (the global kind), and anything outdoors.

My deep appreciation of nature is what drives me at both a personal and professional level. I love being outdoors, whether it's rock climbing, trail running or hiking in the mountains, and I'm passionate about fighting climate change using circular economy principles. I'm excited to leverage my experience to help companies to reduce their plastic footprints through the expansion of Plastic IQ into international markets."
