Who We Are

We are an environmental non-profit working on the ground to build circular economies in the Global South.

We work with governments, residents, waste workers, waste management organizations, and private companies on solutions that keep waste out of landfills and improve lives.

Our mission is to redesign human systems for the good of people and the planet by developing innovative, scalable solutions.

At Delterra, we focus on the world’s most complex systemic environmental challenges, where incentives, information, and infrastructure are misaligned, making them appear too hard, too complex, or too costly to fix. To start, we’re tackling the broken recycling system in the global South.

We envision a world where human activities protect and restore a healthy planet.

Today, we are reimagining and redesigning the recycling systems in Indonesia, Argentina, and Brazil. Over the next few years, we plan to scale our operations to other countries struggling with the growing waste crises across Asia, Latin America, and Africa.

Where
We Work

Indonesia

Launched in 2018, Yayasan Delterra has been working in Bali to transform their waste management and recycling systems. To date, we have worked with more than 30 villages, reaching up to 80% recycling participation and enabling the operation and scaling of one of Indonesia’s largest organic waste facilities.

Argentina

Delterra's work in Argentina began with a pilot program in Barrio Mugica, the largest informal settlement in Buenos Aires. We then successfully scaled operations to Olavarría as a proof of concept of our pilot and are working to transform waste management systems in a cohort of cities representing 20% of Argentina's population.
